Start Date: February Half Term or April 2026
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term
Salary: Competitive Daily Rate
Paragon Education is working closely with a specialist provision and mainstream schools in Sutton Coldfield to recruit a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
This role is ideal for an experienced TA or support worker who is passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and emotionally. The setting provides strong leadership, clear behaviour frameworks, and excellent staff support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Support pupils in managing emotions, behaviour, and engagement with learning
- Assist the class teacher in delivering structured lessons and interventions
- Implement behaviour support plans and de-escalation strategies
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Work closely with SENCOs, pastoral staff, and external professionals
Person Specification:
- Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Ability to work consistently and professionally in challenging situations
- Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3) desirable but not essential
